What Is SMC?Sheet Molding Compound

An excellent FRP composite molding material made by mixing liquid Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UP) for FRP with a Curing Agent, Filler, Mold-Release Agent, Pigment, Thickener, and other additives, impregnating the mixture into reinforcing Glass Fiber, and then chemically increasing its viscosity to form a sheet with high adhesion and outstanding moldability.

What Is BMC?Bulk Molding Compound

A bulk-form thermosetting reinforced plastic molding material made by mixing liquid Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UP) for FRP with a Curing Agent, Filler, Mold-Release Agent, Pigment, Thickener, and other additives, impregnating the mixture into reinforcing Glass Fiber, and then chemically increasing its viscosity to achieve high adhesion and outstanding moldability.

Raw Material Composition

Five additives are blended with Unsaturated Polyester Resin and Glass Fiber as the base, and the compound is classified as SMC or BMC depending on its final form (sheet / bulk).

Raw Material Manufacturing Flow

  1. STEP 01 Mixing

    Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UP) is mixed with a Curing Agent, Filler, Mold-Release Agent, Pigment, and Thickener

  2. STEP 02 Glass Fiber Impregnation

    The mixed resin is impregnated into reinforcing Glass Fiber

  3. STEP 03 Chemical Thickening

    Viscosity is chemically increased to secure adhesion and moldability

  4. STEP 04 Finished SMC · BMC

    Finished as sheet-form SMC or bulk-form BMC
